What is Sync · Carry?
Sync · Carry is a perception gap diagnostic for couples. It's not a task tracker, a chore app, or an AI coach. Each partner independently maps who owns each household responsibility and how heavy it feels. Then the app compares both maps and reveals the gaps.
The gap between the two perceptions is the insight. Neither perception is wrong — the divergence is what reveals invisible labor, undefined ownership, and weight asymmetry. Research shows couples literally perceive the same household load differently (Statistics Canada, 2017).

Built on research, not assumptions
Every item in Sync · Carry maps to a documented household activity from national time-use surveys. The category architecture follows the American Time Use Survey (ATUS) 3-tier lexicon (17 major categories, 424 activity codes). The gendered distribution data comes from Statistics Canada's linked-couples dataset.
94 items across 5 situation packs (No Kids, Young Kids 0–5, School-Age 6–12, Teens 13–17, Empty Nest) ensure the diagnostic matches your household reality. The gap score is deterministic — no AI, no hidden weights, no personalization black box.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the mapping take?
About 5 minutes per partner. Each person maps independently — you don't need to be in the same room or do it at the same time. The app waits until both partners have finished before revealing the gaps.
What is the mental load in a relationship?
The mental load (or cognitive labor) is the invisible work of anticipating, planning, monitoring, and managing household responsibilities. Research by Allison Daminger (2019) identified four stages: anticipating needs, identifying options, deciding, and monitoring execution. Studies consistently show women disproportionately handle anticipation and monitoring — the most invisible stages.
Is Sync · Carry a task tracker?
No. Sync · Carry is a perception gap diagnostic, not an operational task tracker. It doesn't assign chores or track who did what today. It measures how each partner perceives the distribution — and the gap between the two perceptions is the insight.
Can more than 2 partners use it?
Yes. Sync · Carry supports 2 or 3 partners. In 3-partner mode, the gap analysis includes alliance detection — it shows which pairs agree and where all three diverge.
What happens after the mapping?
After both partners complete the mapping, Sync · Carry reveals the perception gaps — where you disagree on who owns a task or how heavy it feels. You can then commit to a 30-day guided experiment: pick one task to swap, set clear implementation intentions (when, who, what), and receive contextual check-in emails at Day 7, 14, and 30.
