Why Embed a Thinkery Widget
- Genuinely free. No account, no API key, no quota, no surprise paywall later. The only thing we ask is that the small attribution link in the widget footer stays visible.
- No ads inside the widget. The embedded tool is clean — your readers see the tool, nothing else.
- Light and lazy-loaded. The iframe uses
loading="lazy", so it only loads when the reader scrolls to it. It will not slow down your page. - Bilingual. Every widget exists in English and French — pick the language your audience reads.
- Private by design. All computation happens in the visitor's browser. No data is sent to our servers — from your site or theirs.
Ideas by Site Type
- Food blogs: the Cooking Converter next to your recipes, so readers convert cups to grams without leaving the page.
- Teachers and schools: the GPA Calculator or Exam Timer on a class page.
- Quebec business sites: the GST/QST Calculator — your clients compute taxes right on your page.
- Personal finance blogs: Compound Interest, Loan Calculator or Debt Payoff inside your articles.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it really free? What's the catch?
There is no catch. The widgets are free for any website, commercial or not. The widget footer contains a small attribution link back to bams-thinkery.ca — keeping it visible is the only condition. That link is how the project grows.
Will it slow down my website?
No. The snippet uses loading="lazy", so the widget only loads when a reader actually scrolls to it. The tools themselves are lightweight, run entirely client-side, and contain no ads or trackers.
Can I change the size?
Yes — edit the width and height attributes in the snippet. width="100%" adapts to your layout; most tools look best between 400 and 680 pixels wide.
Does it work on WordPress, Squarespace, Wix or Shopify?
Yes. Any platform that lets you paste custom HTML can host the widget: a Custom HTML block in WordPress, a Code block in Squarespace, an Embed element in Wix, or a Custom Liquid section in Shopify.
Do I need to ask permission?
No — this page is the permission. Pick a tool, copy the code, paste it. If you embed a widget somewhere nice, I'd love to hear about it via the contact page, but it's not required.
